The Vein Centers of Connecticut, acquired by Midstate Radiology Associates in 2019, are our dedicated facilities for the treatment of venous insufficiency (or disease), varicose veins and spider veins. Since 2004, the board-certified staff of radiologists have performed minimally invasive procedures with little to no downtime and amazing results!
What Is Vein Disease?
Vein disease is more than a cosmetic issue. Too much pressure in the vein valves causes blood to flow backwards and pool in the legs, resulting in unsightly varicose veins. Symptoms include heavy, aching legs, restlessness and swelling. If left untreated, vein disease can lead to further health complications, such as blood clots and skin ulcers.
Spider veins are small, superficial veins that occur in discolored clusters on the legs and ankles. While they are considered a cosmetic issue, spider veins may develop into varicose veins if you are at increased risk. Factors that lead to varicose vein disease include heredity, pregnancy, age and obesity.
Treatment Options
Is vein treatment right for you? If you’re experiencing any of the symptoms described above, schedule a consultation with our friendly and experienced team. We will perform a diagnostic ultrasound to evaluate your condition, answer any questions you have and set up an appropriate treatment plan. What are the available options?
Radiofrequency (VENCLOSE™)
New catheter solution for varicose veins. Radiofrequency energy closes the damaged veins and redirects blood to healthy veins.
Varithena®
Non-surgical, minimally-invasive procedure involving an injection of foam that closes damaged veins and allows blood to flow through other healthy veins.
Endovenous Laser Ablation
Ultrasound-guided procedure that closes the affected veins and redirects blood to other healthy veins.
Ambulatory Phlebectomy
In-office treatment for medium and large varicose veins. A very fine needle is used to pull out the bad veins.
Sclerotherapy Injection & Laser Treatment
Mild chemical solution for spider veins and small to medium varicose veins. Topical laser treatment is another option for spider veins.
