Your doctor has ordered a PET/CT Dotatate Study. Please follow these simple instructions so that we may best serve you.
- Fasting is not required for this exam.
- Please ensure you are well hydrated before and after your appointment.
- Patients must be off long-acting somatostatin drugs (e.g., Sandostatin, aka Octreotide) 28 days prior to exam.
- Patients must be off short-acting Somatostatin drugs (e.g., Pasireotide) 2 days prior to exam.
- Avoid exercise or other strenuous activity for 24 hours prior to your appointment.
- Wear comfortable clothing to your appointment.
- No jewelry or other metal.
Please allow yourself an adequate amount of time to register before your appointment start time (15-30 min is recommended). Your exam duration is approximately 1.5-2 hours.
- We will place an I.V. into your arm and you will receive an injection of radioactive material. You will not feel any symptoms from this injection.
- The radioactive material takes 45-60 minutes to absorb into your system. You will sit in a private room during this time. You may watch television or you may consider bringing something to read while you wait.
- Images take approximately 20-30 minutes to complete. You will lie down under our scanner for the duration of the scan. A pillow will be placed under your knees for comfort and a warm blanket may be provided if you are cold.
- You are able to resume normal activities following your exam.
