Responsible for obtaining authorizations of all orders in their work queue and making outbound scheduling calls to patients for doctors/offices they are responsible for.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for working any order that drops into the authorization coordinator work queue.
- Manage daily orders that are placed by referring physician/ordering groups through work queue and order depots.
- Schedule daily orders with patients and follow up with patients that have been previously left messages to schedule.
- Check eligibility of patient’s insurance and initiate and obtains authorizations.
- Check status of pending authorizations.
- Follow up on denied cases with physician offices and pursue reconsiderations/appeals/relay option of peer to peers.
- Responsible for assisting with inbound calls when it is operationally necessary.
- Could be asked to place written/non epic orders into system.
- May be asked to enter demographic and insurance information into system.
Position Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Experience working in a call center preferred.
- Experience providing customer service in a healthcare setting preferred.
- Experience/proficiency working with Electronic Health Records (EPIC experience) preferred.
- Must have a friendly and caring attitude with empathy for each patient.
- Excellent interpersonal, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Must be willing to take on new tasks when operational needs arise.
- Must be committed to maintaining strict confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA.
Compensation
MRA offers competitive starting compensation based on qualifications and experience. Starting pay for this position is between $18.00/hr and $24.71/hr. Eligible for an increase of up to $3/hr after six months of employment with Career Advancement Program.
Career Advancement
Authorization Coordinators can advance to Level II by demonstrating a proven level of expertise as universal agents, capable of handling scheduling and authorizations for any modality or location.
To qualify for advancement, colleagues must complete 6 months in a Level I role and meet the job performance and competency eligibility criteria. Successful promotions to Level II include a pay rate increase up to $3/hr.
Weekly Schedule
- Position Schedule: Mon – Fri, 8:30AM – 5:00PM
- Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40
